WeRISE (Reaching Inward for Success and Empowerment) College Prep Program

The purpose of the WeRISE (Reach Inward for Success and Empowerment) College Prep Program is to equip rising High School students in grades 9-12 with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully navigate through high school and the college admissions process. Participants will:

  • Have their transcripts reviewed and evaluated by the WeRISE College Prep Program staff
  • Review NYS High School Requirements
  • Expand their knowledge of key college admissions terms
  • Review college admissions testing programs 
  • Create a working college list
  • Take a career interest inventory test and explore major options
  • Explore the CUNY, SUNY, and Common Applications
  • Draft and workshop their personal statement
  • Participate in simulated college admissions interviews
  • Understand the FAFSA process
  • Learn about popular scholarship programs 
  • Develop a list of scholarships to which they can apply
  • Expand knowledge of key financial aid terms
  • Learn how to read and understand financial aid award letters
  • Understand NYS Opportunity Programs
  • Attend College Trips

Praise and Worship - 12:30pm - 1:00pm
Divine Worship - 1:00 - 3:00pm
Fellowship Lunch - 3:00 - 4 :30pm
Evening Service - 4:30pm - 5:30pm
